Project: Xfinity Optech Tradeshow Booth

Problem

How to create a best-in-class trade show booth experience for Xfinity customers at the 2023 NMHC OPTECH Conference with Comcast vendor Showcraft. We provide the design story, aesthetics, and client advocacy. Showcraft executed the build.

The focus of Xfinity and the Optech conference is to showcase innovation and future-ready technology for Multi-Dwelling Units. Products include property-wide connectivity solutions that feature 24/7 proactive monitoring for both existing and new build properties. The sales teams will engage with prospects to understand their priorities and vision for their property. Additionally, they will ensure that superior service supports these experiences, providing assistance to communities at every stage of the building lifecycle.

The first step was to define the look and feel of the trade show booth. We also developed strategies to enhance the experience for event attendees once inside the space. Perspectives on overarching themes for food, drinks, and entertainment for guests were also provided.

From four options, the client chose the concept:

“Light Years Ahead”

By creating an immersive, future- and tech-centered environment, our guests will know that Xfinity is the only partner capable of meeting their needs now and into the future.

This futuristic vibe took over the entire space, anchored in Xfinity’s new, highly saturated purple tones. We incorporated Xfinity’s chevron shapes on the floor and ceiling as beacons to guide event attendees into the space.

We requested that Showcraft update the physical structure of the booth itself to align with the client’s overarching theme of “connectivity.” They responded with larger exterior screens and continuous LED piping throughout, allowing color and light to flow around the footprint seamlessly.

Major Personal Win

There were “supply chain issues” with the vendor providing us with templates in time for an upcoming client presentation. Anticipating the problem, I used my access to an incubator space here in Sacramento to do some large-format printing and laser cutting so I could create prototypes of the three original options by hand just in time for the client. This way, GMR was still able to make our voice heard, even when the vendor was not collaborating effectively.

Project Goal

Stand out at the 2023 OPTECH Expo with a “fun” experience that reflects the Xfinity Brand Purpose of connecting you to more of what you love. Showcase Xfinity’s innovation and technology, while helping the sales team connect with customers on a human level through warmth and shared interests.
